BATU PAHAT, May 11 — An official vehicle belonging to the Sri Gading MP’s Service Centre was vandalised by an unidentified individual yesterday.
Sri Gading MP Aminolhuda Hassan said the incident is believed to have occurred at around 11 am, when the Toyota Estima parked near the service centre was smashed and damaged by a man on a motorcycle.
Aminolhuda, who is also Johor Pakatan Harapan chairman, said an officer on duty at the office pursued the perpetrator but failed to catch him. They recorded the suspect’s motorcycle registration number.
“A report was subsequently lodged at the Yong Peng police station, and we were informed that the police have arrested the suspect.
“I hope such incidents will not be repeated, especially against political leaders, and I urge everyone to practise mature politics and resolve issues through discussion,” he said in a statement today.
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the arrest was made at around 3 pm yesterday at a house in Tongkang Pechah, near here.
“In addition to detaining the 37-year-old suspect, police also seized the vehicle, clothing and tools used in the act.
“The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, and the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and Section 15(1)(e) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
Shahrulanuar added that the suspect has been remanded for four days from today until Wednesday under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. — Bernama
